Couples who met on dating apps are just as happy — and more keen to move in
Sociologist Gina Potarca of the University of Geneva analysed a 2018 Swiss family survey of 3,235 people whose relationships began within the previous decade. The study appeared in PLOS ONE.
Fears that apps ruin love were not borne out. Couples who met on apps rated their relationships as highly as everyone else, were more likely to plan living together, and the women among them expressed stronger wishes to have children.
Apps also mix people up: they produce more couples with different education levels and more who live far apart — people an ordinary social circle would rarely bring together.
What it means for you: meeting on an app is not the 'unserious' route. What matters is not where you met but what you both want.
